Shortly after lockdown happened, a team led by Carlsberg Group’s Chief Digital Officer Nancy Cruickshank started to work on an idea to help support pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes during these extremely difficult times.

Within just 3 weeks, an early version of Love My Local was up and running. Launched initially to help pubs, bars and restaurants keep trading during lockdown through take-away and donations, Carlsberg UK’s Love My Local has now been further enhanced to digitally enable publicans reopen safely.

The platform allows pub-goers to see what pubs near them are using Love My Local – which also provides a range of safe and practical tools for pubs – with a postcode map on Love My Local online. In addition to the postcode search feature, the Love My Local platform is being offered as a solution to venues across the UK so they can reopen and continue to trade safely and successfully with features including:

  • Online food and drink menus for pubs and venues,
  • Table service so contact is limited,
  • Online payments from pub-goers to avoid contact,
  • Booking capabilities for people to plan their trip to their favourite pub.

The Love My Local platform also allows people to support from their sofas, from delivery ordering to donations, to help their favourite local pub get back on its feet, as well as sales voucher options.
